How to Use Tree-Gro
When planting plugs & transplants
Plant trees as you normally would. Place a tablet 3″ away from the plant stem and 1″–2″ below the soil surface — the soil bacteria release the fertilizer, and it follows the water down to the root zone.
For larger trees and shrubs: use two tablets for each ½″ of stem diameter, or for every 12″ of height or spread.
- Set the plant in the hole at the proper level.
- Backfill part way up.
- Set the tablets around the hole on top of the fill.
- Complete backfilling, then tamp and water.
When fertilizing established trees & shrubs
Measure the stem or trunk diameter at ground level. Use two tablets for each ½″ of diameter, or for every 12″ of height or spread.
- Locate the drip line — the circle marking the outermost spread of the branches.
- Punch holes 4–6″ deep, every 24–36″ around the drip line.
- Divide the tablets equally among the holes, drop them in, and close with soil.
