The White Oak is well favored for its strong branches that can live for centuries long. Its leaves also produce wonderful fall colors such as red and burgundy.
Uses
This tree often acts as shade trees in large lawns and street trees.
Wildlife Value
White Oak produce acorns – one of the best food sources for several wildlife animals. Those that enjoy its acorns include birds, deer, and rodents. The leaves are also eaten by birds.
History & Lore
The White Oak tree has its routes in American history as it was used to build the USS Constitution along with other Oak trees. In World War II, it was later used by minesweepers and patrol boats.
